Description
The Department of Psychology is seeking qualified candidates who are enthusiastic about teaching for ongoing part-time adjunct instructor positions. Note that this announcement aims to solicit applications in order to identify a pool of adjunct faculty who are qualified to teach undergraduate and/or graduate coursework in various modalities. Teaching assignments vary based on departmental needs.

Minimum Qualifications
General qualifications should be appropriate for the level of class being taught, typically a Ph.D. in Psychology or related field. An ABD currently enrolled graduate student will be considered in special cases. The applicant should have experience and/or training relevant to the content area(a) being taught. Willingness to work collaboratively with faculty, as well as teach and mentor students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
Applicants should be qualified to teach (in person and/or online) coursework to meet the demands of the department. Additional consideration will be given to candidates who demonstrate multicultural competence in the awareness, knowledge, and skills needed to work independently and collaboratively with others who are culturally different from self in meaningful, relevant, and productive ways; demonstrate excellence (or strong interest) in providing inclusive opportunities for high-impact practices, including mentoring undergraduate research; demonstrate experience teaching a diverse student population, including international students; and whose scholarly interests intersect with the target area(s) of instruction and/or would add novel contributions to the department.

Special Instructions For Applicant
Application materials should include (1) a letter of interest highlighting the applicant's intention and qualifications to teach one or more of the courses offered by the Psychology Department, (2) a current curriculum vitae, (3) copies of unofficial transcripts reflecting the highest degree earned (official transcripts will be needed if offered a position), and (4) contact information for at least two professional references. Additional materials may be requested at a later date. Review of applications is ongoing based on departmental teaching needs.
Physical Demands
The successful candidate must be able to:Teach the assigned course(s) for the duration of the appointment, with the standard enrollment for each course as set by the department.Teach a schedule made up of a combination of the standard class-meeting times (in-person, hybrid, and/or online), as determined by the department chair(s), to meet instructional need.Teach classes for the mandated number of contact hours per week over a full semester and/or term and meet university expectations for final exams.In addition, the successful candidate must be able to:Maintain current knowledge of the discipline.Present course material in a clear, organized manner using methodologies appropriate to the discipline-e.g., lecture, demonstration, technology. Explain course expectations clearly to students.Adhere to the requirements of the department's curriculum.Adhere to all university safety policies regarding classroom equipment and materials.Grade assigned papers, examinations, or projects in a timely manner so that students may benefit from the feedback.Provide students with individualized help and consultation to meet students’ needs.Meet administrative requirements and deadlines such as those for submitting course syllabi, conducting student course evaluations, and submitting final grades.Use technology as established and communicated by the University to carry out the administrative duties associated with teaching.
