Chief Purpose of this position: The Department of Family Medicine & Population Health at Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine is seeking to hire a full-time Primary Care Family Medicine Physician for our VCU Health Family Medicine at Warsaw practice located in the Tappahannock region. Family Medicine at Warsaw serves a rural on the Northern Neck region of Virginia. Our practice provides care for patients of all ages, with a focus on patients over 65 years of age, and includes opportunities for office-based procedures. As a busy rural clinical practice, Family Medicine at Warsaw focuses on providing comprehensive care to all patients under their care and is also a teaching site for School of Medicine Family Medicine M3 rotations. The VCU Health System offers a competitive salary and generous benefits package, as well as the ability to earn clinical bonuses. This is a full-time position and the Physician in this position will have the opportunity to be involved in medical student teaching and departmental research projects. The purpose of this role is to continue to provide the highest level of Family Medicine care at our VCU Health Family Medicine at Warsaw location.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Provide the highest quality of patient care as a Family Medicine Physician.
  • Commit to serving communities of underserved patients, providing full-spectrum outpatient primary care from newborn to geriatric patients.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for patients and prepare appropriate treatment plans as necessary.
  • Administer comprehensive wellness exams, referring patients to other providers for specialized treatment if necessary.
  • Treat a wide range of medical issues, caring for the whole patient, including mental and emotional concerns.
Required Qualifications:
  • Board certified or Board eligible in Family Medicine
  • Licensed or license-eligible in Virginia
  • MD or DO from an accredited university
  • Excellent communication skills and interpersonal relationships
  • All candidates should have demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in didactic and/or clinical teaching of medical students
  • Research interests in medical education
  • Family Medicine fellowship training
