Job Summary

The S.J. Quinney College of Law is seeking a driven, personable, detail-oriented Major Gifts Officer with excellent writing and communication skills to identify, cultivate and solicit major gift prospects for the University. This person will be responsible for working with the rest of the Development and Alumni Relations team to coordinate, plan and implement fundraising activities for the College of Humanities to secure financial support from individuals, corporations, and foundations, and for advancing the relations of the College with community organizations and agencies.Utah Law is among the top law schools in the nation. Responsibilities

Identifies major gift prospects and travels extensively to visit key alumni and friends of the university to solicit gifts. Prepares major gift prospect strategies for comprehensive fund-raising campaigns for the university by developing specific plans for individual donors. Functions as a liaison and consultant to selected colleges and departments on campus. Advises and assists the deans and development directors of these areas in campaign planning and implementation.

Directs activities to identify, cultivate and solicit significant donations from the university's highest level donors. Prepares and writes individual proposals to solicit contributions. Assists in the identification, screening and hiring of college-based development officers and their training.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Communications, Business, or a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four years of experience in high-end repeat sales or direct fund-raising required. Demonstrated human relations and effective communications skills also required. Fund-raising or repeat sales experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully establish long term relationships with high-end customers is preferred.

Preferences

Three years of fundraising experience which includes direct solicitation of contributions, volunteer leadership support, written and verbal presentations, and strategy and market development are required.
