Job Summary

The University of Utah, David Eccles School of Business MBA program is currently seeking a dynamic and competitive Admissions Counselor to join our team. This role will be pivotal in providing comprehensive admissions support to prospective MBA students, fostering relationships with corporations and professionals, and contributing to the growth and success of our MBA programs. This position will also involve cross-training and support in enhancing the student experience. We are seeking a candidate with exceptional communication and project management skills, a commitment to delivering high-quality service, strong teamwork abilities, and excellent organizational skills to effectively manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Guide prospective students through the admissions process, providing personalized assistance and consultation on program fit, application submission, and academic preparation.
  • Utilize various communication channels (phone, email, text, etc.) to engage with prospective students and build rapport throughout their decision-making journey.
  • Actively manage and report on the prospective student pipeline, working towards admissions goals and maintaining accurate records in Salesforce.
  • Conduct interviews with candidates and assist in credential evaluation for program admission.
  • Assist in planning, hosting, and presenting at recruiting events, including budget tracking and reconciliation.
  • Finalize prospective student applications and coordinate admissions decisions and scholarship offers.
  • Conduct onboarding and orientation sessions for newly admitted students, covering program information, student platforms, and academic policies.
  • Process student enrollment and verify documentation, ensuring compliance with university regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Student Services team to support student enrollment, class days, and events.
  • Assist in other areas of the department as needed.
Note: This job description is not exhaustive and may include additional duties, responsibilities, and qualifications as assigned. In addition to recruitment and admissions responsibilities, the Admissions Counselor will have opportunities to work directly with current students and support various program needs, including faculty support.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
  • Work Environment: Primarily office-based environment.
  • Physical Requirements: Sitting, hearing, listening, and talking nearly continuously are required. Repetitive hand motion (such as typing) and walking are also often required. Bending, reaching overhead, and lifting up to 25 pounds are occasionally required.
Minimum Qualifications

Requires a bachelor's degree and 2-4 years' related experience, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience).

Preferences
  • Two-plus years of professional experience, with strong familiarity with current trends in MBA programs and business education.
  • Demonstrated competitive drive, excellent work ethic, and effective time management skills.
  • Experience in managing or supporting university, college, or company recruitment programs.
  • Knowledge of general management curriculum and familiarity with other institutions' courses and programs.
  • Ability to work effectively across cultures and collaborate diplomatically with individuals at all organizational levels.
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, with a willingness to learn new programs.
