Research Technician
This is a full-time position in the Department of Neuroscience. The most important functions will be to perform laboratory experiments using molecular biological techniques for protein production and purification, and immunostaining.

Performs a variety of laboratory experiments and procedures. Prepares specimens. Oversees supply management. Operates and properly maintains equipment.
Essential Functions
The employee will work in a neuroscience research lab that utilizes molecular, electrophysiological and imaging techniques. The most important functions for this position will be to perform laboratory experiments for protein expression, protein purification and validation, and immunolabeling. This includes growing cell cultures, molecular biology techniques to induce protein expression, ion exchange and size exclusion chromatography for protein purification, gel electrophoresis, and maintenance of antibody, primer, clone and cell culture stocks. These functions will require manual skills (e.g., in maintenance of cell cultures), intellectual skills (e.g., in application of molecular biological protocols, and in collection and analysis of experimental results) and interpersonal skills (e.g., in teaching the protocols to other researchers).

Sitting, standing, lifting - 10 lbs or less, and moving between lab spaces, daily.
