Job Description

The Department of Psychiatry & Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of Missouri invites applications for an Assistant/Associate/ or Full Research Professor position to work in the Health Neuroscience Center (PI. Dr. Brett Froeliger). This position will support an ongoing program of translational research on addiction. Research studies in the HNC are organized around interleaving cognitive neuroscience techniques, mobile technologies and clinical trial methodology to investigate novel treatments for substance use disorders—including nicotine, cocaine and opioid use disorders. Ongoing projects include examining the effects of neurostimulation, pharmacotherapies and mindfulness-based interventions for treating addiction pathophysiology.

The laboratory is housed within the newly built Cognitive Neuroscience Systems (CNS) core facility that is equipped with a research dedicated Siemens PRISMA MRI scanner, full suite of psychophysiology, TMS and Neuronavigation equipment, numerous cognitive / behavioral testing rooms and office space for faculty, students and staff.

The successful candidate will:
• Play a key role in building addiction research on campus.
• Serve as the Project Director of one or more NIH funded research studies.
• Have access to the CNS core facility and be provided sufficient time to plan and conduct their own independent research.

Qualifications

The successful candidates will hold a Ph.D. in neuroscience, psychology, biomedical imaging or in a related field, have experience conducting clinical trial research and demonstrate a publication history suggesting the potential for obtaining independent grant funding.
