Job Summary
The Medical Laboratory Science ( MLS) Program, Department of Health & Clinical Sciences, College of Health Sciences ( CHS) at the University of Kentucky is currently accepting applications for a full-time 11-month Lecturer title (non-tenure eligible) faculty member to begin employment on July 1, 2024. The Bachelors of Health Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences is one of three undergraduate degrees in the department. The MLS Program is nationally accredited by NAACLS. The mission of the Medical Laboratory Science ( MLS) Program is to help the people of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and beyond to gain and retain the highest level of health care by educating individuals to become high quality medical laboratory science practitioners and healthcare professionals. The program vision is to be a nationally recognized program for our high standard of training and high-quality graduates.
Program goals designed to address the program's vision and mission are as follows:
· To graduate versatile medical laboratory scientists prepared to meet the workforce needs in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the nation.
· To graduate healthcare practitioners that demonstrate professionalism reflective of the highest ethical standard of the medical laboratory science profession.
· To provide an educational foundation that can be advanced such as in the areas of administration, academia, advanced healthcare roles, industry and research.

Primary duties of this faculty position will include teaching undergraduate courses in the MLS Program, specifically the fields of microbiology and hematology (hemostasis, body fluid analysis and urinalysis). The faculty member will also coordinate all courses and activities related to student clinical practicum experiences and other roles as assigned by the Program Director or Department Chair. Additional duties include participating in service across the department, college and university levels. Participation in scholarship activities may be offered. The anticipated effort for this position is Instruction 75-85%, Service 5-15%, Professional Development 1-2% and will be negotiated with the Department Chair annually.
