Requires occasional handling of objects up to 25-50 pounds, standing, walking and sitting for long periods of time.

Shift

Primarily 3:45pm – 12:15am weekdays, including some nights, days, weekends, and holidays.

Job Summary

The Hospital Chaplain/ UKHC will provide direct patient care, make spiritual assessments, prioritize pastoral care needs, provide sacraments or make provisions for such and address interfaith needs. Prepare and provide services of worship, sensitive to the interfaith community. Utilize area religious leaders to meet spiritual needs of patients, families, and staff. Counsel, support and provide educational opportunities for staff. This position will be primarily located in Good Samaritan Hospital and experience in behavioral health preferred.

Residents who have completed a third unit of CPE and are currently enrolled in a fourth unit are strongly encouraged to apply.

Interpersonal and customer service skills, work independently, organizational, administrative and clerical skills, excellence in written and verbal communication and ability to work within a team. Ability to utilize knowledge and skills while working in a professional environment.

Preferred Education/Experience

Master's degree of Divinity or Master's degree of Theology and a minimum of one year experience in a clinical setting; four units of Clinical Pastoral Education from an ACPE accredited training center; endorsement by a religious body as a chaplain and Board Certified or eligible for certification through the Association of Professional Chaplains ( APC), National Association of Catholic Chaplains ( NACC), or National Association of Jewish Chaplains ( NAJC) required.
