Physician Assistant-C
Brian Chalkin D.O. at The Orthopaedic Center is seeking a Physician Assistant. The successful candidate will have previous experience with upper extremities and will work with physicians and other healthcare providers providing orthopaedic care to our diverse patient population.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists physician in surgery, including closure of surgical wounds.
- Manages day to day activities within his or her own clinic.
- Assesses patient health status including state of wellness, compliance with care plan and determines appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Provides acute and chronic patient care including taking histories, doing physicals, monitoring therapies, giving injections and medications, suturing wounds.
- Responds to emergencies including use of CPR.
- Documents patient information and care provided in patient record and maintains department statistics. Uses computer to access/enter needed data.
- Educates patients and families as appropriate. Provides continuity of care.
- Consults and collaborates with other healthcare professionals as necessary.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
EDUCATION: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program.
REQUIREMENTS: Physician Assistant certification and Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure as physician assistant.
EXPERIENCE: Physician Assistant in a clinic setting preferred, but willing to consider recent graduate. Orthopaedic experience is preferred upper extremity.
KNOWLEDGE:
- Working knowledge of acute and chronic care protocols, administration of medications, delivering physical care and following treatment plan.
- Knowledge of the assessment of patient health and measurement/record keeping of physiologic and growth indices.
- Knowledge of health promotion principles and techniques and patient learning measurements.
