Major/Essential Functions
  • Work with faculty in the Department of Psychiatry and all its pursuits, following all institutional and School of Medicine policies and procedures.
  • Provide mentoring to other department faculty in education, research and clinical care.
  • Assist with maintaining a high quality program including efficient referrals and management thereof.
  • Encourage and support the research efforts of the campus as related to the department
  • Comply with requirements of accreditation agencies relative to the educational mission of the department
  • Collaborate and develop positive working relationships with community physicians, community leaders, partners on this campus and other campuses of TTUHSC.
  • Teach residents and medical students in the field of Psychiatry
  • Provide clinical services to out-patient and in-patient populations, including child, adolescent, geriatric, substance abuse, and consultation-liaison services.
  • Prescribe, direct, or administer psychotherapeutic treatments or medications to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders.
  • Gather and maintain patient information and records, including social or medical history obtained from patients, relatives, or other professionals.
  • Design individualized care plans, using a variety of treatments.
  • Collaborate with physicians, psychologists, social workers, psychiatric nurses, or other professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress.
  • Analyze and evaluate patient data or test findings to diagnose nature or extent of mental disorder.
