Salary: $31,738-$34,738

Motlow State is located in the beautiful rolling hills of middle Tennessee and has four campuses that serve students from eleven counties. General Function:

The Library Associate III is a major provider of the library's customer, circulation, and reference services and gives computer assistance and one-on-one instruction to library patrons as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree earned from an accredited institution and at least one-year customer service experience or library technical services experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree earned from an accredited institution and three years library experience or library technical services experience.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • LIBRARY USER SERVICES: Assists and teaches students, faculty, and community users how to access and acquire physical and digital information through the library's catalog. Supports all aspects of circulation.

● LIBRARYSUPPORT SERVICES: Records daily library statistics and gate counts. Assists in collecting and reporting library statistics data monthly. Produces Motlow IDs as needed for students, faculty, staff, and community users. Troubleshoots library equipment by scheduling maintenance and service requests, keeping inventory of supplies, and ordering supplies as needed. Responsible for signage relating to library hours or closings. Uses professional etiquette when answering the library phone, greeting students, faculty, staff, and community users entering the library, and responding to voicemail or email messages.

Works effectively with all areas of the library, including distance education services. Must be able to lift and carry boxes weighing forty pounds and pushcarts of books and equipment from building to building or room to room. May travel to other campus locations as assigned or needed.

● Support the advancement of diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion efforts at the Library, making positive contributions to a culture of inclusion, kindness, and respect in all interactions within the Library and across the college.

● Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of books, eBooks, and library databases.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and ability to apply them in a library setting
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of cloud storage, including Microsoft OneDrive and Google Suite.
  • Has experience using D2L or a similar Learning Management System
  • Maintains relevant and current knowledge of library best practices through continual professional development and/or attendance at professional development events.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
