Research and Instructional Services Librarian (Humanities)
Marquette University's Raynor Memorial Libraries seeks an energetic, collaborative, and service-focused librarian to support student success and faculty research related to the fields of Humanities. A member of the library's Research and Instructional Services team, this librarian is responsible for research assistance, instruction, collection management, and outreach as the subject liaison for the Departments of Philosophy, Theology, and History at Marquette. The successful candidate will bring awareness of library resources and practices related to Humanities as well as enthusiasm for faculty outreach and student learning.

Responsibilities:
- Develop strong collaborative relationships with faculty that support all stages of their instruction and research.
- Partner with faculty and the library acquisitions team to select, manage, and evaluate relevant areas of the library's collections information resources that support current student and faculty academic and research needs.
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate information literacy into the curriculum.
- Develop and conduct instructional sessions for students on information literacy and the use of relevant research resources and practices.
- Create instructional materials in a variety of formats for online use by students and faculty.
- Provide in-person and virtual reference support, including occasional evening hours.
- Communicate regularly with the departments about relevant news, services, resources, and programming of interest to their faculty and students.
- Contribute to and learn from the field of librarianship through such avenues as local, state, and national professional organizations, presentations, and publications.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- MLS from an ALA accredited institution.
- Understanding of the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education.
- Demonstrated ability to teach library information literacy sessions, including the development of learning outcomes and measurable assessments.
- Knowledge of a variety of digital methods used to support data visualization and web publishing.
- Understanding of current trends and methodologies in humanities research and scholarly communication.
- Demonstrated interest in the fields of humanities.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and an ability to work with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
- Strong commitment to patron service and improving the user experience.
- A growth mindset and commitment to professional development.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- College course work or experience in a humanities field appropriate to the position.
- Familiarity with resources in theology, philosophy or history.
- Experience working in an academic library including internship or practicum experience related to humanities fields.
- Experience with collection management.
Librarians at Marquette University hold non-tenured faculty appointments. The successful candidate will be hired at assistant or associate librarian rank as outlined in the Marquette University Academic Librarians Assembly promotion and tenure guidelines. A strong record of job performance, professional growth, and service is required for reappointment and promotion in rank.
