Essential Job Functions



Pre-Award
  • Analyzes sponsor requirements and addresses them to prepare responsive proposals
  • Prepares sponsored research proposals including; arranging project budgets, coordinating and compiling proposals within requirements, maintaining compliance with sponsor guidelines, coordinating grant approval process, and proposal submission to sponsor
Post-Award
  • Monitors fund distribution and compliance with reporting regulations and funding requirements
  • Reconciles account activity for sponsored research accounts and all other funds and identifies errors and initiates corrective actions to include journal entries
  • Supports and initiates purchasing activity while maintaining compliance with sponsors and university expenditure policies
  • Tracks budgeted efforts for personnel and salary distributions
  • Closes and terminates grant accounts, as needed
  • Monitors reporting requirements for sponsored research grants and facilitates principal investigator compliance with reporting requirements
Research and Sponsored Award Process
  • Coordinates the review, approval, and acceptance of awarded research and sponsored projects
  • Distributes Notice of Award (NOA) to awardees
  • Establishes subcontracts for awards made to external academic or industry partners
Additional Job Functions
  • Serves as a designated subject matter expert and researches, designs and develops grant proposals
  • Researches and identifies public and private funding opportunities and determines viability and alignment with strategic plans and initiatives while communicating these opportunities with university colleges and departments
  • Conducts grant related research and reviews and reports on national data and trends in higher education, updates and maintains grant tracking system and logs, monitors deadlines, develops and monitors grant budget reporting, and communicates grant spending with project stakeholders
  • Assists in the preparation and monitoring of department budget
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree
  • Moderate amount of experience working in research administration activity, preparation of sponsored research proposals and budget preparation or other related experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Research Administrator certification
  • Intermediate Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, charts/graphs)
