Description
We invite applicants for a full-time, 9-month tenure track position in Psychology and Criminal Justice to begin Fall 2023. This appointment is within the College’s Liberal Arts and Social Sciences division. Ideally, candidates will have a strong background in both criminal justice and psychology with an interest in some of the following areas: community policing, forensics, corrections, restorative justice, counseling, and social psychology. This faculty member would be charged with developing community partnerships and internship opportunities for students with an interest in criminal justice and social services professions. The faculty will also be asked to work with area colleges and universities to help to establish transfer agreements.
The successful candidate will teach courses in psychology and criminal justice, and should plan to work with internships and community partners as an ongoing part of their job requirements. Faculty teach a 5/5 course load with opportunities for summer teaching assignments. Faculty are expected to teach both face-to-face and online courses, and may be assigned to teach at any of our three campuses, as needed. This position includes an ongoing component of working with external partners to maintain the cultivated relationships for transfer students, internships, and community services.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Criminal Justice or Psychology with 18 graduate credit hours in the other
- Demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and institutional service
- Commitment to student success
- Ability to work effectively and inclusively within a diverse campus community
- Ability to lead and to collaborate in curriculum and program development that bridges areas across the College
- Ability to seek out and establish partnerships within the Bloomington-Normal community, creating, coordinating, and sustaining a healthy internship program
Desired Qualifications
- Doctoral degree
- Successful community college teaching experience
- Professional experience in a related field
- Experience using classroom assessment to improve teaching and learning outcomes
- Willingness to participate in and contribute to multiple aspects of campus life
