Financial Secretary
Ebenezer Baptist Church seeks a full-time Financial Secretary.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This is a full-time(40 hours per week) position with the primary responsibility being the confidential receipt, maintenance, accounting and disbursement of Church funds; this include the accounting for all investments/endowments, accounting for all Church property – list of all physical assets, accounting for payroll, providing Financial Statements for individual funds, as well as, consolidated Financial Statements for all funds. The Financial Secretary must maintain meticulous and confidential individuals' weekly contributions. Additionally, the Financial Secretary must prepare records for annual review by outside auditors.
QUALIFICATIONS
The Financial Secretary must possess a sound working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), internal controls, accounting practices and bookkeeping procedures. Qualified applicants must have a least a two-year Associate degree in Accounting. A four-year degree in Accounting from an accredited university or college is preferred. Suitable professional experience may be substituted for education at the discretion of Ebenezer Baptist Church.
Additionally, the Financial Secretary must possess and maintain the following personal attributes:
1. Ability to interact appropriately with Church leaders, administrative staff and volunteers for different purposes in different contexts, i.e., strong interpersonal and communication skills.
2. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all church matters.
3. Ability to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.
4. Ability to consistently prepare/write accurate and timely reports, synthesizing information from multiple sources.
5. Ability to lessen or avoid interruptions when accuracy of work is of upmost importance.
6. Be dependable and reliable.
7. Complete workload within established time deadlines.
8. Be proficient in utilizing modern office equipment and appropriate software.
9. Ability to work independently, as well as with groups.
10. Be flexible to adjust to other necessary duties and responsibilities as situations dictate and to perform related duties as required.
ACCOUNTABILITY AND EVALUATION OF PERFORMANCE
This position is under the direct supervision of the Pastor and/or Designee.
The Financial Secretary normally receives little instructions on day-to-day work and receives general/functional guidance from the Finance and Stewardship Ministry, along with the Pastor's Designee, and act in accordance with GAAP.
A semi-annual performance review will be completed by the Pastor or Designee in July and December of each year.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
Constantly ascends/descends steps to access Church Office, operate copy machine, obtain supplies or to perform assigned duties.
Frequently communicates with Pastor, Pastor's Designee, Church members, administrative staff, volunteers, and ministry/committee members.
