Position Purpose

Works under the supervision of the director of the Cancer Center biostatistics service center, and biostatistics faculty to provide statistical analytical support to researchers in the Dartmouth Cancer Center.

Masters or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Proven organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Ability to work independently, taking initiative to advance projects.

Ability to use sound judgment and communicate effectively with our users.

Ability to effectively collaborate and interact with all levels of staff and management.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree preferred, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. PhDs will be considered.

Experience working in a core facility or other customer-facing or service-oriented role.

Key Accountabilities

Description

Data Analysis

Provide sample size and power calculations.

Simulates data (i.e. random number generation) for the purpose of power calculations.

Wrangles data using R, Python or other data programming language.

Conducts exploratory analyses to identify discrepant data.

Data analysis including exploratory analysis, statistical inference and modeling, and some bioinformatics,

Determines the need for missing data methods such as multiple imputation.

Uses statistical models such as linear regression, logistic regression, Poisson regression and conduct statistical inference.

Conducts time-to-event analyses (e.g. overall survival and recurrence free survival) using Kaplan-Meier and Cox regression models.

Preparation of statistical and design plans for research proposals

Write statistical methods for abstracts and manuscripts.

Write the results sections of abstracts and manuscripts in collaboration with study investigators.

Seek guidance when needed from director of cancer center biostatistics service center and biostatistics faculty.

Responsive to researchers seeking statistical expertise.
